Lillie & Aubrey in Colorado Springs
Sometimes things just align, they were meant to happen at exactly the right time.
When we first landed in Colorado, Blake and I (Washington State babies) were greeted with a sweet rainfall. Apparently we’d brought the Pacific Northwest weather with us, as it turned out this had been a spring with the most rainfall Colorado had seen in years. Normally people hope for ‘good’ weather, especially when traveling. But I’m not normal people.
Garden of the Gods was high on my list for this work trip. Without doing too much research (sometimes it’s nice to be surprised with the landscapes, to see them for the first time in person rather than through a screen) I knew this gem in Colorado Springs settled well into my soul.
I wasn’t wrong. Meeting Lillie & Aubrey here, I stared out our car windows like we were driving through Disney Land. The Colorado landscape is something else. Massive rock features jutting out of the ground with a confidence and assurance I can only hope for. The dark oranges and reds contrasting with greenery in unfamiliar ways. Weather rolling in faster than I can predict and feeling like the breath move through my lungs or goosebumps rise. They are meant to be here. We are meant to be here.
I believe if I write any more, my words will take away from the gallery that follows. I could go on and describe the light and feelings in moody and ethereal ways, but introverts know when to stop talking like a 6th sense. With the sound of raindrops and sun peeking through weather-holding clouds, I give you Lillie & Aubrey in the place they call home.
