Irene reached out to me with so much love in her voice with one goal - to capture her grandparents. Never having a session with a photographer before, she wanted her grandparents to have something tangible for the people that are her everything. And so on a trip out to Portland, we met at Cannon Beach for a quick nostalgic photo session.

In the Pacific Northwest, we learn to embrace the darkness. Over-romanticizing the quiet, the dreary, the cloud-heavy skies and our minds. But every once in awhile the sun makes an appearance, reminding us to loosen our grip on the dark we hold dear.

A scene straight out of a movie - huddled close together on a cold, moody day, the sounds of water gently pulling us in. But we stay in the solace of each other's company in the chilly air.
